By-Laws for the Blinker Bowling Team

 

Article I.       Name of the Organization

The name of this organization shall be the Blinkers Incorporated

 

Section 1: Headquarters.

The headquarters of this organization shall be at the residence of the president.

 

Article II.      Membership

Section 1:

Anyone who is legally blind shall be eligible to belong to this organization.

Legally blind is twenty over two hundred (20/200), with corrective vision in the better eye.

 

Section 2:

A blind person must show proof of blindness by having a document from his or her doctor.

 

Section 3: Auxiliary Members

Auxiliary members are sighted bowlers with the following duties: assisting blind bowlers by calling out pins, records scores, setting up and taking down rails, driving to and from events, pays dues, and helps with fund raisers. Auxiliary members must also participate with a minimum attendance of 50%.

 

Section 4: Dues

Each bowler must pay $10 before November 7th each bowling season.

 

Section 5:

Those members who have difficulty with performing tasks independently must bring their own aide. The aide must become an auxiliary member to participate in bowling or other functions.

 

Article III.     General Purpose

The purpose of this organization is to promote a bowling team for blind people for recreation and social interaction.

 

Article IV.     Meetings

Section 1:

Meetings shall be held whenever the president or any two members of the team so request and shall be held two weeks after the membership has been notified.

 

Section 2: Place of meeting.

It shall be the responsibility of the president to locate and secure facilities to hold meetings

 

Article V.      Expulsion

Section 1: Expulsion, suspension, or other disciplinary action

Any member of this organization may be expelled from membership for a violation of these by-lays, or other causes shown.

 

Section 2:

A member may be expelled after two letters of complaints with documentation, charging the member with slanderous and/or derogatory remarks that are damaging to this organization or any member thereof.

 

Section 3:

It shall take a two-thirds majority vote of the membership to expel a member of this organization.

 

Article VI.     Officers, Qualifications, Elections

Section 1:

The officers of this organization will consist of three: president, vice-president, and secretary-treasurer.

 

Section 2:

All officers of this organization shall be at least the equivalent of legally blind, with the exception of the secretary-treasurer, who may be sighted.

 

Section 3:

The election of officers shall be held every two years on the even year, and shall be held on the last Sunday of April (at the end of the season), at a designated facility. The new officers shall take office in October, at the beginning of the bowling season.

 

Article VII.    Duties of the President

Section 1: President

It shall be the duty of the president to preside over all practice and tournament bowling games.

 

Section 2:

The president shall preside over all meetings.

 

Section 3:

The president may appoint someone to assist in keeping the games organized.

 

Section 4:

The president shall be responsible for obtaining sponsors.

 

Article VIII.   Obligations and Duties of Vice-President

Section 1:

The duties of the vice-president shall be to preside over all organization business and meetings while the president is absent and until the president’s return. Also, to assist the president whenever requested.

 

Article IX.     Duties of the Secretary-Treasurer

Section 1:

The secretary-treasurer’s responsibility at all meetings will be to accurately record the minutes of the meeting and keep them on file as a permanent record of this organization. Tape recordings will suffice.

 

Section 2:

The secretary-treasurer shall be responsible for all correspondence for the organization.

 

Section 3

1.      The secretary-treasurer shall be responsible for all of the organization’s funds received in his/her possession, until the funds are deposited in the bank

2.      The secretary-treasurer shall be responsible for keeping an accurate, recorded accounting of the organization’s financial funds.

3.      The secretary-treasurer’s responsibility at all business meetings is to give an accurate, updated accounting of the organization’s financial status quo.

 

Section 4:

The secretary-treasurer and the president’s signatures are both required on all organizational financial transactions over $75 in order to be valid.

 

Section 5: Expenditures

1.      All expenditures of funds for this organization are controlled by a two-thirds majority vote of the membership of this organization, with the exception of the president and secretary-treasurer, whose obligations and duties are for the betterment of this organization, to perform and maintain the normal monthly financial expenditures within their jurisdiction of office.

2.      If member needs financial assistance with a bowling ball or shoes, the team will contribute up to $50 each for ball and shoes after being a member for a year. The equipment is expected to last approximately 10 years.

Article X.      Changes

These bylaws may be changed upon request by the president or any two members, and upon the approval of the majority of the membership, and read at two consecutive general meetings before being voted on, and shall require a two-thirds majority vote of the membership to be valid.
